At 32, Mo Salah is a ‘good age’ with the physical capabilities of playing twice a week alongside the savvy gained from nearly 700 games.
Liverpool’s Egyptian King has done his ambition of signing a bumper long-term deal at Anfield no harm by scoring 27 times for the Premier League leaders this season.
Ahead of Sunday’s game at home to Wolves, manager Arne Slot has compared the forward’s longevity to another icon, Cristiano Ronaldo.
‘In certain things, you can see he’s 32. What I mean is that he’s so experienced and so smart and knows so well where the ball will fall,’ said Slot.
‘He has lived through so many situations that he just feels where the ball can fall and he’s there, like his goal on Wednesday at Everton.
‘In other parts, like how fit he is, he is able to play every three days at his age. He’s not the only one – I think Cristiano Ronaldo is still doing it at the age of 40 – but Mo is also definitely an example for our younger players.

Mohamed Salah has scored 238 goals in 384 senior appearances during his Liverpool career

Reds boss Arne Slot praised Salah, 32, and compared him to one of football’s all-time greats

Slot likened the forward’s longevity to Cristiano Ronaldo, who is still scoring goals aged 40
‘He is able to bring his best performance out every few days. 32 is not old, for a football player it’s still a good age to be at, I think.’
Salah is out of contract at the end of the season and has repeatedly raised the possibility of this being his last season on Merseyside as negotiations continue.
He believes his current form entitles him to a longer deal than the two years a player his age would normally expect.
‘What excites me most is that Mo is a very humble person who wants to work every day to become a better player,’ added Slot.
Salah has scored in his last five games at Anfield and will be expected to increase his run with Wolves battling to avoid relegation. In the reverse fixture at Molineux in September, he scored the decisive penalty in a 2-1 Liverpool win.
